Back and forth, yet trusting. This is my attempt to collapse 2023 into a single sentence. Sounds like an irony, doesn't it? Who goes back and forth, yet trusts God? Make it make sense, Adebola. I'll try to.
In this part of the world, we begin the year usually with themes and declarations that centre on hope, peace, joy, breakthrough, excellence, only to mention a few. In Nigerian churches, relentless echoes of—
“My year of divine positioning and upliftment”
“My year of dominion”
“My year of open heavens”
“My year of covenant highways”
All of that. Declaration and prophecies that roll off the tongue smoothly, and we're so quick to post on our social media, until we fail at the whole point, which is pondering on them often, treasuring them in our hearts and putting in the work. This, of course, is a story for another day.
Moreover, I'm not sure how to convince you that my ‘back and forth’ coexisted with trusting God. It really did. It was not a no-progress back and forth, because truth be told, God helped me to make some tangible progress this year. What I mean is kinda similar to what the disciples were like in Jesus’ day on earth. How that even though Jesus was right there with them, there were days where fear, anger, doubt, busyness (as in the case of Martha), unbelief got the better of them. I was like that on many days this year, so much so that at some point, I asked myself, “have I learnt nothing?”
But I'm not here to brood over my inadequacies. I’m here to encourage as many that went through similar experiences to say with me, “You know what? We go again.”
Why? Because God is THE only option.
“To whom shall we go?” Peter answered Jesus’ concerns with a question, then continued, “Lord, you have the words of eternal life.” (John 6:68).
Therefore, no inadequacy should keep us from the throne of grace.
However your 2023 played out, 2024 can be so much better. Therefore, as we seek to align with the word of the Lord and the influence of the Holy Spirit—
We go again.
Count your blessings, friends. Happy new year in advance!
Thank you for sticking around. Better things are coming, by God’s grace 💛.
Yours in quality time,
Adebola🦋.

I have fallen in love with your writeups and you by extension.
2023, what a year.
The downs and ups were there of course but in your words, brooding over our low moments shouldn't be of great interest.
2023, was a good year
I can only thank God for never giving up on me even though most times I didn't reciprocate the synergy.
To my family and friends, they were absolutely the real deal.
2024, indeed we go again.
With the goal of unleashing a new self better than our previous selves, I encourage we strive and commit to getting 1% better daily.
2024, will surely see our achievement of great feats.
Thank you Ms. Adebola, your words always pass strong message across.
Happy new year Family 💕
